Hafodwong includes two beautiful cottages called Maes-Y-Gorlan (‘Home Field’) and Ger-Y-Llan (‘Near the Church’). They are converted stone barns near Nebo, 10 minutes from the Cardigan Bay coast. The owners are a Welsh speaking farming family and there will be a warm Welsh welcome to you when you arrive. Why not come and learn a few Welsh words!
This is a lovely cottage for a family holiday: the grounds offer plenty of open space for children to play, and space to relax amidst the peace of the countryside or to enjoy a summer barbeque. The ground floor bedroom and shower room make it particularly suitable for a guest with restricted mobility.
The cottage is less than 10 minutes from the main coast road that edges Cardigan Bay, making it easy to explore the whole area. The colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is within 15 minutes and from there you can drive through the beautiful Aeron valley to the National Trust manor house at Llanerchaeron – or walk to it along the path of the old railway line.
To the north, the University town and seaside resort of Aberystwyth, with its castle, museums, Arts Centre, pubs, restaurants, funicular railway and Camera Obscura is about 20 minutes away. You can ride the old steam train to Devil’s Bridge. It is just over half an hour to the ancient Cistercian Abbey at Strata Florida with Teifi Pools and the Cambrian Mountains beyond.
The cottage offers a comfortable base for exploring the whole of West Wales: spectacular coast, unspoiled countryside, and remote mountains.
